Past Projects

I worked on a collaborative project a few years ago, doing research to understand the relation between Nemophila menziesii and the pollinators that interacted with them. We used a transect style survey to observe and identify the pollinators that were visiting these flowers. There had been prior data on this specific plot of Nemophila and the abundance it was coming back as every year. As the project went on we were noticing that Nemophila was coming up in greater yield and in different areas then it had in previous years of data. We added another question to our project about soil quality in these areas, and based it off of soil quality that was analyzed some years prior. Nemophila is very specific to its growing conditions, and we found that the soil nutrients where much higher in the areas that the nemophila were coming up then they had been before. There were questions then asked about the pollinators being more or less attracted to these certain areas and patches that the nemophila was coming up in. This project was very rewarding.
