Research Interests
Vaccine research and preventative disease control are the fields in the study of medicine that I believe are the best avenue to improving the health and wellbeing for people around the world
Current Projects
My current project focuses on studying the expression of heat shock and immunological genes in the mosquito population in Hawai’i, specifically the dengue vector Aedes aegypti. My project aims to see if there is a correlation between a warming climate and Aedes aegypti’s ability to ward off dengue infection, which could have implications for dengue fever’s ability to spread throughout the islands. I will be making use of the Elala lab’s mosquito room
